Description and History

The VC-27 Tunny is a powerful medium transport craft with vertical take-off and landing capability. The proven design of General Titanic's workhorse transport aircraft is such that the plane can be found in service in almost all the branches of the U.N. Forces, from the U.N. Spacy to the U.N. Navy.

NOTE: Astute fans have observed the VC-27 Tunny closely resembles the real world Boeing YC-14 military transport aircraft built in 1976. Both craft feature prominent cylinder-shaped over-wing engines, very similar rear landing gear housings, nearly identical empennage, a steeply sloped nose and share an overall tall fuselage. Aside from the physical design similarities, both craft perform the same function and the STOL capabilities of the Boeing YC-14 likely became the VTOL capabilities of the VC-27 Tunny, thanks to the fictional OverTechnology of Macross.
