MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam

MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam (Waverider Mode)
|
MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam
Debut: Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta, Episode 21 (TV series, 1987)
Description: The famous Gundam used by Kamille Bidan in Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta. The MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam had both a mobile suit configuration and a special "movable frame" design that allowed transformation into a "waverider" mode which it could use to sustain atmospheric rentry. The Zeta Gundam had a fairly standard armament which included a beam rifle, paired head-mounted vulcan guns and two beam sabers (doubling as forward-firing beam guns in waverider mode) but also included a dual-tube grenade launcher within each forearm. The MSZ-006 also featured the "bio-sensor" system originally designed as a way to improve HMI (human-machine interface) between the mobile suit and a Newtype. However, when Kamille was sufficiently mentally and emotionally focused, the bio-sensor had the unpredicted effect of amplifying the power, speed and strength of the mobile suit for brief periods. Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG) ace Newtype pilot Kamille Bidan made famous the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam during numerous sorties as part of the Gryps Conflict in UC 0088.
NOTE: Fans watching the OP (opening song/credits) for Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta have observed the head unit of the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam is quite a bit different from that seen in the final official mechanical design. Apparently, the initial design is by Mamoru Nagano and the final version was redesigned by Kazumi Fujita.
Original mechanical designer: Kazumi Fujita (principal design) and Kunio Okawara (transformation)
