Description and History

Following the mass migration into outer space, the U.N. Government soon controlled many worlds covering many light years. The operation of ferryboat craft to connect Earth and the emigrant settlements of space began in the 2020s. As the migration to space continued the 2030s saw the stabilization of livable environments beyond Earth to the point where tourist ships became common space craft. Seimens Corporation and Shinnakasu Heavy Industries cooperated on construction of such a ship. Engineers from Meyer Corporation also joined the project to bring their experience with transoceanic luxury liners to the design process. The Stellar Whale is a space luxury liner designed for both an atmosphere and space that operates from Earth to planets within a 100 light-year radius. As a non-military space craft, the design prioritizes safety and comfort for passengers with a strengthened hull to sotften the unpleasant sensation during a space fold. The ship has its own fold navigation system for interstellar transport (the indespensable Antenna mast for fold operations is mounted on top amidships) while the interior possesses a restaurant and shopping mall for convenience and comfort of the passengers. From the bow to the mast antenna is the passenger compartment, a section divided into many levels with numerous windows for enjoying outside scenery. The passenger compartment has spacious 3-seat rows and emergency life support systems built into every seat. The ship can conduct takeoff from the water and the top hull is a form of pellucida (common to immigration ships) made from a special transparent "Herculite" alloy.

The Stellar Whale - which travels nonstop for 30-60 days - is one of many regular tourist ships connecting the popular destination planet Eden with the Earth in the 2040s. Including crew, passengers and store employees, the ship can accomodate up to 4,500 people aboard.
On her flight from the planet Eden, music producer Myung Fang Lone traveled in the Stellar Whale flying from the Groombridge 1816 system to Earth in the Sol system some 11.7 light years distance.
