The VF-5000B was not included in the mass-market version of the Macross Digital Mission VF-X2 video game. However, the VF-5000 was featured in the Japanese special edition version available only through mail-in as part of the campaign prize from the Tokyo Snack Foods Corporation. This edition of VF-X2 has since been nicknamed the Tokyo Snack Version.
NOTE: The VF-5000's designation was inspired by the Dassault Mirage 2000. Studio HalfEye titled its model the "Star Mirage," although Shoji Kawamori had indicated such a designation was only a nickname. The name "Star Mirage" has since been published in the book Shoji Kawamori's Macross Design Works (2001) and the Macross Chronicle (2009).
