  • Description and History

The VF-5000B as seen in the Macross Plus Video Game appears to be a direct adoption of the colors used by STUDIO HalfEye for their variable model appearing in the August 1998 issue of Hobby Japan magazine. Since these colors have been used in an official Macross video game and barring any other officially released hull colors, the Macross Plus version of the VF-5000B is featured under the VF-5000 Star Mirage main profile in the Macross Plus section.

NOTE: The VF-5000's designation was inspired by the Dassault Mirage 2000. Studio HalfEye titled its model the "Star Mirage," although Shoji Kawamori had indicated such a designation was only a nickname. The name "Star Mirage" has since been published in the book Shoji Kawamori's Macross Design Works (2001) and the Macross Chronicle (2009).
