  • Description and History

The Cheyenne II is a redesign of the original U.N. War-era ADR-03-Mk III Destroid Cheyenne that was deployed over 50 years ago in 2008. While the Cheyenne II shares a similar appearance to the original Destroid Cheyenne, numerous parts and systems have been changed. The changes made for the Cheyenne II include a modern thermonuclear reaction engine (the old Cheyenne used a gas-turbine engine), armament modernization/expansion, strengthened rocket motors for use in space combat and increasing the vernier engine. The derived internal structure of the original destroid has since been rennovated and greatly improved in the Cheyenne II model. Like the original Destroid Cheyenne, the Cheyenne II is made for anti-aircraft attack (ADR). However, the Cheyenne II can achieve superior performance beyond the limitations of the original destroid. The Cheyenne's charged particle cannons (for use against hard targets), auxillary verniers (for space combat) and rollers with magnetic-attachment systems (for high-speed movement on a carrier deck) have expanded the operational territory of the destroid. This versatility has allowed the Cheyenne II to excel as a multi-role unit and it has since become a substitute for the Space Defense Robot (SDR) and the Main Battle Robot (MBR) models throughout the Macross Frontier fleet. In addition to superior driving stability, the Cheyenne's foot rollers do not damage pavement surfaces, allowing easy use inside immigration ships.

The New U.N. Forces and the Strategic Military Services (SMS) of the Macross Frontier fleet have deployed the Cheyenne II in an assortment of roles including anti-aircraft attacks, missile strikes and for combat armor on the Islands and warships of the fleet. In 2059, the Cheyenne II was utilized to help combat enemy forces in the Anti-Vajra War.
