    Description and History

A modified Battle-class space stealth aircraft carrier operated by Heimdall. It uses the Siren Quantum AI system. A transformable aircraft carrier like all Battle-class vessels, it serves as Heimdall's flagship. The Battle Astraea has huge wings and a halo-like ring part on its back, (possibly inspired by the AFOS Bird Man from Macross Zero). The bridge (head) has a hooded appearance and is equipped with the Siren Quantum AI system, which also serves as a stage for Yami_Q_Ray. The Battle Astraea's appearance is far removed from that of a normal Battle-class ship and uses fold quartz combined with the Siren Quantum AI system to travel across the dimensional fold faults as well as enhanced offensive/defensive capabilities.

The Battle Astraea disappeared eight years ago in 2060 along with the commanding officer Ian Cromwell. Nicknamed "Steel Cromwell", Ian served as the captain of the New Unified Nations Spacy 7th Fleet "Macross Astraea". During his service in the New UN Spacy Army, he was a hero noted for an action during the Zargganz War in which he subdued a rogue Zentradi fleet with a single ship. He repeated called for release of restrictions upon technological development which he felt would reduce casualties in the battlefield, but his proposals were rejected. Sadly, Cromwell's home planet and fleet were destroyed. In 2068 at age 56 (one-quarter Zentradi, 330 cm tall, weight 558 kg), Ian Cromwell reappeared commanding a heavily modified Battle Astraea within the Brisingr Globular Cluster. He lead an organization named "Heimdall" to oppose the will of the furtive figure Lady M, who Cromwell claims is manipulating and holding humanity back by restricting the development of protoculture technology into AI and cloning. Deploying the Siren Quantum AI system and the virturoid group Yami_Q_Ray, Cromwell attempts to conquer the Brisingr Globular Cluster. Cromwell is killed and the Battle Astraea is destroyed due to a combination of power overload from the Astraea itself, attacks from the Macross Elysion with an allied fleet and by Δ (Delta) Squadron supported via 'Walküre'.

NOTES: Astute fans have noted the Battle Astraea looks like a modified Battle Galaxy and even has the number "21" upon the top deck of the ship. Since the Battle Galaxy/21 was destroyed in 2059, the Battle Astraea may have been designated as the same ship number within the New UN Spacy fleet. The Battle Astraea's "wings" also appear to be docked with many smaller ship-shaped structures in a feather-like pattern (with two more ship-shapes, one connected to each port/starboard side of the aft-most/lower leg). It is unknown whether these structures are independent space ships or just part of the modified sections of the Astraea. However, the visual design language of the Battle Astraea suggests these black-colored structures (colored like the independent Gunship itself) are separable from the mothership with their own cannon turret emplacements and even hints they may be unmanned vessels operated by autonomous/semi-autonomous AI (based upon the drone-esque mono-sensor style design of what could be the orange-colored bridge of each ship).
