  • Description and History

During the events of May 2045, the Varauta successfully captured City 7, but the forces of Macross 7 were able to determine their destination. Unfortunately, the Macross 7 was unable to pursue until it could build sufficient power to commence a fold to the coordinates of City 7. Given the few options available for pursuit, pilot Lt. Kinryu requested authorization for his Diamond Force unit to pursue using Fold Boosters. The Fold Booster was still experimental at this time and not yet safely tested for long distance fold operations, but Diamond Force was willing to take the risk. Gamlin himself stepped forward to plead their case and Captain Maximillian Jenius granted authorization. The three members of Diamond Force, Kinryu, Gamlin and Physica, undertook the fold operation in pursuit of City 7. Pushing the limits of the Fold Boosters and their own endurance, Diamond Force successfully completed defold. After arriving at the destination, the Fold Boosters were then ejected from each VF-17D variable fighter.
